Project:

Farm 2 Fork (F2F) project is based on the concept of educating wider public about how things we eat come to being. How are these food items grown, transported and produced? We will create fun and educational videos about various food products imported to Iceland and Estonia. The resources created during the F2F project will have elements that will reach out and connect with the younger generation from diverse cultural, social and economic backgrounds. The achievement we want to reach is to give educators and wider public access to quality material to use. We  hope to enhance younger generations’ knowledge about Ecological Footprint and Foodprint in food production. The project is collaboration between Creatrix ehf., Iceland and Youth in Science and Business Foundation (YSBF), Estonia. The project will last for 24 months.

Objectives

The F2F project aims at two objectives.

1. The first objective is to produce educational material that consists of quality educational videos and is supplemented by quizzes. The content that would enable teaching the younger generation about Ecological Footprint and Foodprint in food production. The material will not just raise awareness, but also educate in a way that encourages change in behaviour patterns, that can reduce carbon emissions by planting the seeds of knowledge necessary to invoke actual change.

2. The second objective of this project is to give educators access to quality material to use in their teaching, that can be in the classroom, through flipped teaching or online learning. This will be done through a web page hosting the educational videos, short quizzes and a short guide for teachers.

Outputs:

IO1: Creation of learning material including 6 videos based on food production.

IO2: An interactive website in Estonia, English and Icelandic allowing youth and educators to access the material created.

IO3: Dissemination activities to share and show the videos and material developed in schools and other related organizations.

Expected Result:

F2F project expects to provide youth with knowledge about food production processes. It expects to instil a sense of responsibility and awarenessamong today’s youth through the educational videos about issues related to food production. It will show them the story behind the food they eat, encouraging them to take actions to make changes to their foodprint to help to slow climate change. The project expects educators to have access to quality educational material that is currently lacking.
